At 7 AM, the first white trucks and tanks of the UN started to roll onto the Muzaffarabad - Uri Highway and slowly started inching their way to Srinagar.
People had started lining the roads on both sides and showering the UN tanks with shireen and rose petals. UN troops were waving at the people and shaking hands with overwhelming crowds.
The convoy had difficulty moving their vehicles through the thick crowds who saw the UN as rescuers.
